As it can obviously be seen from the picture, these 5 pigs are a different breed from the Oxford Sandy and Black. This set of piglets is made up of 3 ‘Large Black by Saddleback’ piglets and 2 ‘Large Black by Tamworth’ piglets, a very interesting mix. Whereas the Large Black breed is ideal for bacon, Tamworth and Saddlebacks alongside our Oxfords are dual-purpose pigs (great for Pork and Bacon).
So why did we decide to move into another breed? Well, we thought that it would be more interesting for customers and visitors to meet many different pigs. Each breed has it’s own characteristics, both in terms of colour and nature. By keeping other breeds alongside our traditional Oxfords, then we can really prove our devotion to saving rare breed pigs, and demonstrate our passion for searching for great meats.
