When we started keeping Oxford Sandy and Black pigs, we had enormous problems finding a boar suitable for our gilts. With OSBs, because there are so few breed lines left, interbreeding is common. In the North of England, the problem was even greater as all the pigs came from a few select breeders. So, in order to try and solve this problem, Yorkshire Meats traveled to Worchester to buy in a new bloodline for the North. The result is Jaspar who is available for hire at certain times in the year.
He is nearly fully grown and evidently has the desired appeal for sows as he has sired over 17 litters, including some piglets which went on to win prizes in the Great Yorkshire Show. He is registered with the BPA and the OSBPS. His full pedigree can be found by clicking here or by using the BPA website.
Our usual policy is that Jaspar comes to you, however there are sometimes exceptions to this rule. We charge £40 as a standard fee for each pig served. We feel this is a fair representation of the service provided.
For further information on Jaspar and hiring him, please contact Duncan Turnbull who will be happy to help.
