In May 2008 Duncan Turnbull was nominated for the ‘Yorkshire Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award. At an exclusive event, it was announced that Duncan had won the award, beating off competition from farm shops and feed manufacturers. The event culminated in Yorkshire Meats sharing a podium with Sir Ken Morrison, the billionaire supermarket magnate who won the Yorkshire lifetime award. More details can be found here.

In 2006 Yorkshire Meats won a government grant to take our adopt-a-pig scheme abroad and have a stand in the main arena at ‘Salone del Gusto’, the world’s largest food festival. At the 5 days event we sold our famous sausages to bacon to people from 50 different nations and made up part of the face of British Food & Drink. Visit the Turin page for more information.

In July 2005 our younger gilt Clare, won the ‘Best breeding gilt born after January 2004’ class at the local Huby and Sutton Show. This was very good for us as it confirms the importance of keeping pedigree stock and helps to promote this rare breed.
